ABOUT US

Researching the modern & contemporary history of technology, societal transitions and sustainability challenges

The Eindhoven History Lab is an established center for researching and teaching the transnational history of technology and socio-ecological change in the 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries.

Together with colleagues in our transnational research networks, we place into historical perspective today’s public, scholarly and engineering debates on global crises, ‘grand’ societal challenges, and Sustainable Development Goals—and research the ambivalent role(s) of technology therein.

The Eindhoven History Lab is locally embedded in the Technology, Innovation & Society group at the School of Innovation Sciences, Eindhoven University of Technology. It was established in 2015 as the local umbrella for Eindhoven university’s history of technology group and the in-house Foundation for the History of Technology SHT (Stichting Historie der Techniek).
